Michael Altman’s American Songwriter is a film that feels unique and like home all at the same time. As our world continues to thunder forwards, to hear the stories and the life from the great songwriter Danny Darst reminds us of where we have been and where we are going.
Mr. Altman captures the emotions of rural America, the south, and the art of storytelling in a way that deeply resonates with his audience. We genuinely believe this will be one of your favorite films this year. It is with the highest honor that we officially kick of this year’s festival with American Songwriter.
Immediately following the film, it’s star, Danny Darst, will perform live a few of his favorite songs as a special treat just for RIFF. Between songs Mr. Darst and Mr. Altman will answer questions about the films and share a few of their favorite behind the scenes stories.
